F-Droid needs to step in and take action like they did with simple mobile tools. If there is a change in ownership, the app should not be updated anymore.

The complete lack of caution is concerning. If this had been malicious, the damage would've already been done
A good example of what happens when poor communication and lack of transparency collides..

For now it looks like the original developer of the fork [0] decided to retire their efforts including their whole GitHub account.
User nel0x [1] is communicating with the new repo owner.
