I started walking every day for at least an hour in my neighborhood parks, on a nearby trail, or just the sidewalks in the neighborhood. I use it as meditation time and don’t engage in any distractions like music or podcasts. Just me and the present, mindfully observing the world around me and my own thoughts as they pass through me. It has had incredibly positive effects on my mental health.
I took the last week and a half off work. I've been reading a great book - "Street of Crocodiles" by Bruno Schulz.
After six years at the same company, I started realizing I might be ready for a move, but I'm not interview-ready, so I started brushing up on system design, python/leetcode stuff, and other stuff.
It's been interesting to use claude to generate study guides, and even "books" related to technical topics, and send them to my kindle for reading while out for a nice long walk.
Cycling! I have a fairly unusual bike: steel frame, drop bars, gravel tires, in-hub gears. It’s an absolute dream to ride, and with the weather warming up in Berlin, it’s how I get everywhere.
I also have a very compact art kit that got me to make more sketches and watercolours. My notebooks used to last a year, but now I go through on in a season.
I have been hosting brunch a few times. Cooking for others is a nice love language.
